British citizen issue at Heathrow need help

My daughter is 25 year old and she is British citizen. She travelled with her mother , her sister and myself to overseas and on the way back to UK we all scanned our British Passports . All went through fine but my 25 year old daughter has been asked to go the counter. She has been detained for 40 minutes as they said they have several checks to do. After 45 minutes border control officer let her go. Officer ask my daughter if she ever claimed asylum and she said no. I am her father where i claimed assylum in year 2001 about 22 years back and at that point my daughter was only 4 year old. I cant take her consent at that age as i claimed assylum due to my circumstances . That assylum was withdrawn after 5 years. So how the border officer can ask this question from my daughter as the assylum was claimed by her father when she was only 4 year old. What if she has left me ,say at the age of 16 or 18 , and not stayed in contact with me than how she know that her father claimed assylum when she was only 4 year old and enlisted her name . What if she traveled on her own and stopped by the border control and asked these question ,what will be her answer , she must havd said no or dont know. She was traumatised and now she is scared of traveling .
Please guide me to the right direction as what needs to be done that border agency do not stop her again and ask these question on which she has no control when she was only 4 year old.

Unfortunately, some people are stopped at airports.

It’s not something to be scared about. She may choose to be traumatised or happy to have an interesting airport experience? Laugh at their absurdity in thinking that a 4 year old may make an application for asylum, on her own? There’s some useful material here, if she decides on becoming a comedian?

Make a Subject Access Request to find out more information. They may question former refugees, if they travel back to their country of origin.

Many thanks for your kind reply much appreciated. This is more like traumatised someone as you stated. How can people allow this practice to be carried out. Can she sue them as this experience may stay her fir the rest of her life as the way she was crying is very heartfelt. Please share your opinion with many thanks.

I'm sorry this has happened to her but I don't think there is much you or she can do to be honest. The positive side is that now she is aware this can happen and next time she can be prepared. This probably won't be systematic, but if it does happen again, now she knows there is nothing to worry about as long as she answers calmly and truthfully, Make sure she knows the background, and she will be fine.

I have a friend who has stripped searched on her first visit to Heathrow. She was not a British citizen, granted, but she was traveling on a valid student visa, and the only difference between her and her boyfriend, who was travelling with her, is that she was brown skinned, he was white. She was held for about two hours, interrogated, strip searched then let go. That is traumatising.

Not saying it's OK for them to do that, but I have the feeling they do it when they have a specific reason to tighten their security procedures (for some reason I feel my friend unfortunately matched a description of a wanted person, for example).

Many thanks for your detail reply ,much appreciated.
What she did is lodged complain against border force as she was given leaflet as how she felt by other member of the staff. I hope if they have anythings that flags when she scanned her British passport they may remove the same with the detail complain.

If any other suggestion than please share here as I always got so many help from this boars.

Do let us know how they respond to her complaint. Hopefully, they will remove any wrong data from her file.

Yes my daughter and my wife were included in my assylum application at that point my daughter was only 4 year old.
