length of time before application

hi all

my wife acquired her British Citizenship in May 2022.

I am a Dutch national living in the UK for 20 years and we have been married for 12 years. I would like to know if I need to wait 3 years before I can apply for British Citizenship or can I apply now?

I had to wait until my wife got her British nationality because if I applied through the naturalisation route I would lose my dutch citizenship.

You would still have to naturalised whether you are married to a British citizen or not. It isn't a different process because you are married to a British citizen.

No need to wait.

You will probably still lose your Dutch citizenship because you still have to naturalised which is a voluntary action.

awesome thanks! the waiting time was my main issue. the Dutch have added an exception few years ago to allow acquiring another citizenship if you are married to someone that has that citizenship.
