FLR (M) ILR to British Citizenship

Post by Artur111 » Thu Jan 12, 2023 8:31 am

Hi all,

My wife received ILR in May 2022 after completing 5 years in the UK via FLR (M) route. She is going to apply for British citizenship but we are confused a bit about when she can apply. Usually the person needs to wait 12 months after obtaining ILR.
But given that I (her husband) received British citizenship in 2021, can she apply now as a spouse of British citizen?

Thank you all for your inputs.

She could have applied as soon as she got ILR if she is married to a British citizen. This is clearly stated on ukvi's website.

Thank you,

the point of confusion was - when my wife arrived to the UK I was not British, but before her getting her ILR I received British passport. So was wondering if it makes any difference when I became British in relation to her application so she can apply for citizenship as well.

What matters is that you were British on the date ILR was approved. Not when you arrived in the UK.
This is just my opinion as a member of this forum and does not constitute immigration advice.
Please do not send me private messages asking for advice.

Dear forum members,

My wife has submitted naturalisation application on Monday 06th Feb, made the payment and then she landed on the page where you are offered to print referee forms, docs checklist and book the appointment.
It’s been three days in a row when she is clicking on book the appointment and it takes her to third party website and when she tries to create an account she simply doesn’t receive access code in her inbox (checked junk folder as well). You need to receive a code to start account creation to make an appointment booking.
I’m puzzled to why she doesn’t receive one unless she will be offered to submit her docs via application?
Please can you share your experiences or advice if you know anything about similar situations.

Thank you very much.

Its same process for everyone to get appointment. Keep trying, check that email address is correct, change browser, clear cache files .

Thank you AmazonianX for your advice. I have done all that before posting on this forum.
Have just spoken to UKVCAS and according to the person whom I spoke to “sometimes we have issues with emails from outlook domain”. The ticket has been raised and we are waiting for their IT support person to call us.
Not sure what difference an email address will make, but just to make others aware if you have outlook email it might create difficulties to book an appointment with UKVCAS.
