Advice on british citizen application

Post by rose07 » Wed Mar 08, 2023 4:46 pm

Hi, Can you let me know that can I apply for naturalisation application before some days and pay the fee? But I will choose the biometric date after one week on the maturity date. Because I have some days off from my job,

For example, I got ILR on 28 March 2022 (So I submit the application fee on 20 March 2023 and find the biometric date after 28 March 2023.

is that right?

Regards,

I have split your post from an existing thread - please don't tag onto threads which have no relevance to your question. Please continue posting in this thread.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You can't do that. You have to hold ILR on the date you are applying/paying for naturalisation.
The biometrics date is not the application date, but you will be able to choose a date after you have submitted/paid your application.
This is just my opinion as a member of this forum and does not constitute immigration advice.

1) As @alterhase58 has said, you have to have completed 1 year on ILR on the date of submission, else you won't tick a key eligibility criteria. If you submit early, either your application would be refused, or it will be delayed, while a case worker contacts you to inform you that you have to resubmit your application to make your submission date officially after your 1-year anniversary of ILR. In either case an inconvenience.
2) I don't see why having some days off work motivates applying early? How is that going to help you? There is almost zero visibility on available dates for biometrics before you actually submit your application, so it's unwise to bank on a specific time frame to want to book this appointment. After submitting the application, people usually find themselves in a situation where the only available dates are a month away. You need to be flexible!
My posts express what I believe are the facts, based on the best of my knowledge, about the topics discussed in this forum. They do not constitute immigration advice.

Hi, I hope you are doing well.
Please guide me on what documents I must attach to the naturalisation application (10 years long residence). My husband has to apply this week. The form has been completed online.

Docs List:

1-Passport (Do we need to scan all stamp pages?)
2-Degree (UK)
3-Proof of living address (last five years)
4-Both reference forms

Do I need to add a payslip and bank statement?

Please let me know what I need to add further.

Many Thanks
Ro

These are NOT required.

All stamped pages and the biometric page of passport must be scanned

Regards,
Five years only - this is the naturalisation requirement (not your 10 year route to ILR)

In the form, there is a section where you must give the date of your fingerprint. I don't remember the date of the given year. Shall I leave this empty?

Please confirm

Thank you very much.
In order to support my application, do I need to mention my ILR appeal, where there was confusion regarding the lawful period? Due to this, my application was delayed 18 months.

I guess only applications, whether pre- and/or post appeals.

Thank you for your kind reply.

When I explained the detail to the court, then court said to the home office to review the case and then HO realised their mistake and granted me an ILR and withdrawn from court.

Do you advise if we need to mention all these details?

Sorry I am asking a lot because it was not a a good experience at time of the ILR application.

Or I do stick with the applications I made only. I didn't mention in naturalisation form that I made appeal at court.

Many Thanks

You can make reference to it that a refusal was overturned on appeal. Its no big deal they have the records.

There used to be lots of postings regarding free appointments. I recall the advice was to check early in the morning or shortly after midnight… This is managed by UKVCAS and we don’t have any more insight into their process than those of UKVI.

Dear Friends,
There is bad news. I lost my ILR card the day I had a biometric appointment at the croydon centre. My application was submitted successfully, and I returned and couldn't find it anywhere. I thought I had lost somewhere underground at London Bridge station.

I have reported home office as I have lost. Second, I contacted TfL online and submitted an inquiry as a lost ILR card. But I did not notify the police yet. I did contact the Croyden centre, but they didn't even ask me to show your ILR.

Please advise me on what will affect the Naturalisation application I submitted on 31/March/2023

Please advise!!

Best Regards,
Rose

Why would losing your ILR BRP card have any effect on your citizenship application?? It does NOT.

Thank you for your reply.

When I reported to HO, I got an email in which they mentioned that your BRP will be deactivated. So, in that case, I thought it might be affecting my application.

Do you suggest I apply for a replacement, or shall I wait for my application decision?

Best Regards,
State of the card (physical BRP) does not affect your entitlement to status (ILR) that you hold, as card just proves the status.

You should get a replacement if you have travel plans (so you can use new BRP to travel), but I'd say you're fine as is otherwise.

Just scan the card and upload - even an expired card can be used as the ILR status doesn’t expire as such (apart from being away from the UK for two+ years).

Oh, apologies, must be more careful when reading....

If you have the original letter/email granting ILR that should be sufficient (important to keep a copy of passport/ID/BRP/etc even when you are British eventually).

Dear Alterhase,
Thank you very much for your kind reply.
I uploaded all the documents to the portal on 31 March 2031. Unfortunately, when I returned from biometrics at that time, I lost my card.

I have all scan images of my things, ILR, etc.

Best Regards,
