Referee Form AN MN1 Passport Photo Query

Hi, I am in the process of applying for my Naturalisation/Citizenship after getting ILR in January 2023. I have a question about submitting the referee form.

Presuming an electronic PDF version is allowed to be submitted:
1. Do the passport photos need to have the referee name, dob and signature on the back, and if so, should i scan the back of the photo as well and display it on the pdf form so all details are visible?

Thanks, just double checking as the form asked to add those details on the back but I guess its for physical requirements.

One more question, do my referees need to have non-expired UK passports at the time of my application? The application asks for the PAssport number, but could this be for an expired one where my referee hasnt been able to get a new one?

The requirement is for your referee to have a passport. Not entirely clear if an expired UK passport would be a problem.
In my opinion it shouldn't be. And if it is, the HO would simply ask you for another referee.
