Child registration questions

Post by ema3b » Thu Apr 13, 2023 9:57 pm

Hi. I am applying to register my child as british citizen on form mn1. There is a question „Have you had settlement in the uk”. my daughter only has pre-settled status now, but is also waiting for a decision about settled status. How do I answer this question. Does pre-settled or certificate of application for settled status count as settlement? Or should I answer no, because technically she hasnt received the settled status yet so she is not settled in the UK at the moment? And then maybe explain in the notes that I applied for her?
Thank you!

Yes, she was born in the UK in 2020 and I got granted settled status after she was born (2023).
Once I got settled status I applied for her right away, but I haven’t received a decision from the Home Office, just the certificate of application. She’s had pre-settled status from when she was a baby but I don’t know if it counts as „settlement”.
Thank you!

Answer no. A UK born child has an entitlement to register as British and doesn't need settled status.

Okay thats so helpful thank you very much!
And just to confirm, since my daughter is 3, she doesn’t need to attend the cremeony, she will just receive the certificate by post? Do you know if I get any confirmation that application was succesful, or that they’ve posted the certificate before I receive it? And will they put it in a lettebox or is it a special delivery?

Only adults attend a ceremony.

You will receive an approval email and the certificate will follow in the post a couple of weeks later.
