I hope it is ok to ask another question.

Can my wife who will arrive here on a spouse visa travel with me on holiday to for example Spain?

John
Spouse visa doesn't give her right to visit Spain, if that's your question. She'd have to apply for Schengen visa for that.

My wife has arrived in the UK now on the spouse visa. I keep reading about BRP & BRC resident cards. Do I need to apply for either of these or do they arrive automatically?

You would have nominated a post office in rhe application form nd the approval or letter she got with her visa would tell her to collect the brp within 10 days of arrival at the post office.

Thanks for the reply. I looked back over the email they sent and of course you are 100% correct. It was my mistake. The problem is I was working over in England at that time and it was sent to a post office there and I am back home here in Belfast.

Guess you have to plan a trip to England then. She needs to take her passport with her to collect her brp.

I have contacted the Gov website to see if there is a way to get it sent to a post office near where I live.

The brp is already likely at the post office you nominated. You will likely have difficulty in trying to rearrange things and it will cause delays. The card will probably have to be sent back to UKVI before being sent out again. This can take many weeks.

Best hassle free (less) way will be to get to pick it up from the post office where you nominated and it at already.

If you applied for your immigration status (for example, your visa) from outside the UK, you’ll need to collect your BRP once you’re in the UK.

You must usually do this before the vignette sticker in your travel document expires or within 10 days of arriving in the UK, whichever is later.
If I was you guys, I'd be on the next plane, bus, coach or bicycle to collect it tomorrow.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!

Your choice, only be ready for hassles in getting it if not collected within the time frame from the post office which you nominated.

I am looking to go on holiday with my wife later this year is the BRP enough for my wife to travel or do I still need a schengen visa for her to travel within Europe?

She needs a Schengen visa.

Her spouse visa is only relevent to the UK, it is not relevant anywhere else to permit entry.

Can your wife not travel to England on her own to collect the BRP?
Post Office: Biometric Residence Permits (BRPs) Secure Card Collection wrote:Collect your BRP from a different branch

If you’d prefer to collect your residence permit from another branch that will be more convenient for you, we can redirect it for a small fee.

Choose ‘BRP collection’ from the options in the Branch Finder to find the nearest authorised branch in your preferred area.

Visit the branch to request the redirection and pay the fee. Then return 7 calendar days later to collect your permit.

I actually went to one of the main post offices and paid them to get it posted from England to Belfast so everything worked out great.

Where is the children's other parent?

Does your wife have sole responsibility and evidence to prove sole responsibility?

Thanks for the reply. Their father still lives in my wife's country though has had little to do with them since they got divorced about 5 years ago. They currently live with their Grandmother until we can get them here.

Also my wife's says he has already agreed to let them come and will sign any document to prove it.

Hi again,

My wife who is from Vietnam entered the UK (Belfast) on a spouse visa. Does anyone know or am I just asking a stupid question if she can fly home on holiday for a few weeks via Dublin Airport?

I know thr North/South of Ireland sometimes has different rules in place than the rest of the UK.

TIA

She can't - technically she needs an Irish visa. Her UK permit gives her no rights in Ireland (or vice versa).

You might be able to utilize EU directive if you travel together (and since there's no checks), but assuming she's planning to apply for naturalization later, it may be a mess to figure out her absences as Ireland doesn't stamp people on the way out - UK folks might be confused.

Hi,

Now that my wife is here we need to apply for both her children, does anyone know if it is the same price as it was to bring my wife here?

Also when I renew my wife's visa after 33 months does anyone know the cost of this?

She needs to prove sole responsibility as preciously advised.

The cost is the same for children, visa fee and ihs fee for each applicant.

No one can say for certain what the fees will be in 2.5 years at renewal stage.

My wife says that it states in her divorce papers that she has sole responsibility for the children.

I appreciate we cannot know the exact cost in a couple of years does anyone know the current fees or point me in the right direction?
