British Citizenship & ILR for Family

Post by talreh20 » Sat Apr 29, 2023 12:05 am

Respected Moderators,

I applied for Naturalisation on 12th March and did biometrics on 14 March. I haven't yet received any emails from the council but have a question.
My wife and first child are on spouse visa (First VISA for 2.5 years was from Sep 2019 to March 2022 and second visa is from April 22 to Oct 24). So once I am granted citizenship, can my wife and first child apply for their ILR on the basis my citizenship certificate or do i need to upload my ILR BRP?
And once they get ILR, assuming I'll have my British Citizenship by then, when they'll apply for their naturalisation, do they need my ILR BRP upload?

Many thanks.

They can apply for ILR when they have 5 years residence. You becoming British doesn't give them a short cut route for ILR.

Once they have ILR, they can apply for citizenship. Your spouse must meet all the requirements.

Dear CR001

I appreciate your reply. She'll meet all the conditions, salary etc.

However my question is more towards the ILR BRP. I have read on the forums that they have to return the BRP in 5 days once naturalisation is complete. So would my wife and child be ok when its time for them to Apply for ILR and i dont have BRP, so they'll be ok if I only upload my citizenship certificate when applying for their ILR in Oct 24 (assuming i am national by then).

Dear Respected members,

I applied for Naturalisation on 12 March, and gave biometrics on 14 Mar, I have received a response from them today with a request for further information.

'Your address history from 07/02/2020 to 01/06/2020, please include full postcodes. Can you please provide this in chronological order and without gaps.
PLEASE DO NOT ATTACH ANY BANK STATEMENTS, UTILITY BILLS OR GENERAL LETTERS TO YOUR REPLY EMAIL.'

on the application form, I mentioned the address dates as follows:
04 April 2017 to 07 Feb 2020
01 June 2020 till present.

The reason for the gap, we gave notice to our landlord on 07-01-2020 to leave the property, and I and family left for Pakistan for holidays on 07-02-2020 so we didn't have any address in the UK between these dates as the idea was I'll return on 28-02-2022, live with friends for a month and will find the new house before the family returns at the beginning of April. I returned to live with my friends on 28-02-2020 but then Covid struck and I ended up living with them till 31-05-2020 and my family had to stay in Pakistan due to lockdowns and flight cancellations.

So what address should I give for the period 07-02-2020 to 28-02-2020 when I was in Pakistan? Should I give my Pakistani address or the address I always had the intention to return to?

Off-course I'll give the address where i lived from 01-03-2020 to 31-05-2020.

Is that an issue with my application home office asking for addresses?

Many thanks for your assistance in advance.

Simply put the address of your friend. Also notify him. They just need to tidy up all the loose ends. You can also say that you were on holidays. But add the UK address.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!
