Is it possible to apply for naturalisation by post instead of the online method?

Yes.

But be aware that you will have to submit the original documents (and passports) as well. And the processing will likely take longer as somebody will manually have to enter the form into the systems. And a higher chance of incorrect data entry if the person entering your data into the systems has issues with your handwriting, etc.

Use this paper form if you live in the Channel Islands, Isle of Man or a British Overseas Territory, and want to apply for British citizenship by naturalisation.

You can also use this paper form if you live elsewhere and want to apply by post. You will need to submit your documents with your application.

Is there any particular reason why you do not wish to use the online form?

I am asking on behalf of a friend. He did post his application, he is old school, not really into computers and online interactions, then became worried that he might have made a mistake and I personally told him it would have been better to apply online. He just wanted to be sure his application will be considered even though it will take longer time to process.

He did send the original documents indeed.

UKVI case workers are obligated to consider all applications - by whatever method they are submitted, they will look at all documents and details submitted. The online form is the same as paper, though formatting will be different.

My friend applied by post (unfortunately) 5 weeks ago and no trace of the fees being taken from account which means the application has not been even looked into yet.

Do you think calling the Home Office to ask about the delay will have any positive outcome ?

How long do you think this can take compared to online applications ?

You call a third party call centre, who have limited access to application details. Calling won't get him speaking to HO staff/case workers.

How long do you think this can take compared to online applications ?

It can take a couple months just for payment to be taken, provided he provided the correct details and has money in his account and then takes a while for the biometric enrollment letter/email to be sent too. It can then take up to 6 months, sometimes longer.

Really silly mistake he has made applying by post. Presumably he has posted all the original documents with his application too?

Why did you write "unfortunately". There is a reason the post is called snail mail. secret.simon clearly said in his reply it will take longer if application is done by post.

He is just not into online and like stuff the old way. I bet there is a cost these days to cling onto old reflexes.

My friend received an invitation to book an appointment with ukcvas : photos and fingerprints but still no fees debited from his account.

Friend should go ahead, book and attend appointment, at some point fees will be taken.

Update:

MMST Workflow sent an email on the 1st of August asking for extra information but it went to spam. My friend did not check his spam file until today .
He immediately sent the information needed but unfortunately beyond the 10 working days deadline fixed.

Do you think they will accept his apologies or is it too late to save the application. They have clearly specified that they might decline the application if the information is not received within 10 working days.

Anyone in here had similar experience ?
