Submitted Registration UK Citizenship for 13 years old

Post by jilpangs » Mon Jul 17, 2023 12:08 pm

Submitted Registration UK Citizenship for 13 years old back in May 2023. Is there any portal where we can check status of the application?

Child is currently in ILR. Been told Child cant travel outside of country while we are waiting on the Registration (UK Citizenship) application as the ILR would get invalid if registration process completes while child is outside of country. Is this True? Cant Child enter the country with the ILR and then proceed with next steps of Registration?

No, there is no online status portal to check.

The child is free to travel. Stop listening to other people.

Thanks. So just wait until we hear from HO?

Really? ILR wont be invalid? Any URL where i can read about this?

We need to travel out of country due to family situation and might return only after 6 months. What happens to the registration application and subsequent process like receiving certificate, ceremonies etc? Can we delay all these while we are away ?

Yes and it can take up to 6 months.

Ilr doesn't just become invalid if you travel out of the UK. It does however become invalid once the child becomes British but this will not prevent the child from returning using their ilr BRP.

There is o ceremony for children under 18. The certificate is posted to your address unless you have all applied, in which case the certificate is sent to the council and given to when you gets yours at the ceremony.

Unclear if you have all applied or just the child.

Note that you only have 90 days to attend the ceremony once approved if you have also applied. If you do not attend, your certificate is sent back and you have to apply and pay again.

Plan accordingly.

Thanks. Sorry for not making it clear. Yes, we have applied only for the child.
So hope the certificate will be sent to our home address (does it need someone to sign ?) and lie there until we return.

So once we return into the country the ILR is no more valid and we need to apply for British Passport as next step. Is this right?

Wouldn't expect any official link to exist for this - technically your child's BRP will be invalid, but since you cannot predict when certificate comes and Stupid won't be able to check this information, you'll be fine.

There's a number of examples from people on forums traveling in these situations, eg an adult one post2032137.html#p2032137 .
Not a qualified immigration adviser. Use links and references given to gain confirmation and/or extra information.

Thanks So much. Its a shame we don't have anything official from the Gov sites.

Thanks for the thread, however the discussion sounded touch and go. Anything could have happened. Glad it went well for them.

Its 4 months now we submitted the Registration UK Citizenship for 13 years old.

Absolute silence. Does it take this long? I saw in timelines thread most of people got in 2-3 months timeframe.

Anyways to contact the HO ?

The UKVI target for completion of nationality applications processing is 6 months, though could be anywhere from 2 to 6+ months. MN1 approvals appear to be consistent between 2-3 months, but there are outliers.
There are some email addresses you can try and write to - most of the time you only get a standard reply (i.e. wait): british-citizenship/nationality-enquire ... l#p2093594
