Surname Abbreviated in Degree Certificate - English Proficiency

Hi,

I passed Life in UK test in Oct 2014 and got ILR in Jan 2015. I am planning to apply for British citizenship.

I lost my test certificate and do not have the test reference number. I do have the test date and time and the venue details. I called 0800 015 4245 (Life in UK Test Contact centre) and 0300 790 6268 (UK Visas and Immigration Contact Centre) and was advised that I have to include a covering letter mentioning the test date, test venue and the reason for taking the test (ILR) and that will be enough for the case worker to get my test results details.

I am a bit worried though. As the time and expense involved in significant and my test was a while back. Though I do have ILR which was issued after I passed the test.

What do you advise? Anyone has been successful in their application with the covering letter and without a Life in UK test certificate and the test was almost a decade back?

If those were the guidance provided to you including the organisation that conducts it (albeit the contact centre probably outsourced) proceed with caution.
Can you get a hold of previous application to see if you can get the reference number or search for old copy of the test result if you can get this.

Hi,

I got ILR in 2015 and is planning to apply for Citizenship. In 2014 when I applied for ILR, I just required to send my Master's Degree Certificate and a Letter from University (Indian) that the medium of study for the course was English. The university which granted me the degree was having enough points in the Point based calculator (English language qualification for naturalization - a Freedom of Information request to Home Office ). I did not require a certificate from UK NARIC.

Will this be applicable for Citizenship application as well? If so, can someone please help me with the Points based calculator to get the equivalent level of my degree and the level of English?

There is no pints based calculator.

For citizenship, you will be asked to submit the ecctis (naric equivalent) assessment of your foreign degree or an B1 English test.

Can anyone please give the list of documents required for application of citizenship. Applying for an adult based on last 5 years stay in UK, received ILR in 2015.

The application system will confirm which documents are required for your individual application.
Also, only very few documents are required, unlike visa or ILR applications, basically:
- Passport (to confirm ID and residency for the period)
- BRP
- English Test
- LITUK Test
- 2 Referee Declarations
Documents can be uploaded-no originals required.

Hi,

I am applying for Citizenship and have applied to Ecctis for English Language Proficiency.

I have a degree which was taught in English and also a Medium of Instruction Letter. The problem I have now is in passport, my name is First Name Surname, whereas in Degree certificate and medium of Instruction letter, it is First Name Initial of Surname. (First letter of Surname). Will this be a problem in application for English Proficiency? I already applied and submitted the documents.

Can anyone please advise?

Why not simply do the B1 English test. It costs the same as ECCTIS and you get results quicker.
