Hi,
I'm hoping someone can give me some advice. My wife and I got married last September. She has a Romanian and Moldovan passport, and just this week reveived ILR after having been here for 5 years. Her Romanian passport and Moldovan passport/ID Card are obviously under her maiden name. Her EUSS application and therefore ILR is also under her maiden name. She has no other UK docs such as a driving licence and her Tax etc is alos registered under her maiden name.
As she has also now met the 3 year residence requirement, we are looking at begining the process to apply for citizenship. I understand that she can't have passports in different names. Would it make more sense just to apply for citizenship in her maiden name, as it matches all her current documents, then at a later date we can look at changing the name on all 3? I don't want to undertake anything to comprimise/risk the citizenship application and changing names sounds like it has the potential to complications.
We would like to have the UK passport/citizenship under her married name, what would be the recomended route?
Also, in term of proving residence for the past 3 years, am I correct in thinking that having the ILR just granted, which proved residence for 5 years, would suffice?
Thanks!
