Bringing Old No EU Parents to Ireland

Post by Nathan2321 » Sat Aug 19, 2023 2:03 pm

Would appreciate your comments and application form how to apply

I am a UK national residing in Ireland since 2018 as self employed paying my own taxes.

I would like to bring my old parents dad aged 84 and mom age 76 from Malaysia to live with me in Ireland.(Letterkenny)

I do not earn EU75,000 under the new rules. My question is as I am residing in Ireland and exercising EU treaty rights before the end of the transalation period and continue to do so, can my No EU parents apply to EU treaty division in accordance with the rights and entitlements guaranteed by the withdrawal agreement?

If anyone can help me will be grateful

Do you have the Withdrawal Agreement card given to Brits in the wake of Brexit?

I ask because about two weeks ago a Brit I was speaking to said they were denied access to EU rights despite having documents (eg lease) showing residency prior to Brexit. They didn't apply for the WA card, so didn't have it. They were told that without the card they were deemed to have been exercising Common Travel Area rights and not Freedom of Movement.

I was surprised by this and suggested they dig deeper, as it wasn't the outcome I was expecting. I'm no expert in this area though, so I'll be interested to see what others with experience think.

Why did you not proceed when you asked the same questions in December 2019?
