UK Child Dependent Visa

Post by tksnota1 » Fri Dec 01, 2023 1:24 pm

Hi,

I had a few questions for the visa above

1) I applied and paid for the visa of my child plus he registered his biometrics while his age is still below 18 years old. The visa processing time will normally take several weeks and by the time a decision has been completed his age is beyond 18 years old. Will he still get a dependent visa?

2) What the indicative processing times for this visa. I read in the UK Website that it will take 8 weeks but I believe the it is now faster. Can someone share me their experience especially this year?

3) My child hasn't travelled via plane. What's the recommend airline to use for unaccompanied minor? What's the average cost for this service? Can it be included in the plane ticket?

4) From the country of origin, there will be a country stopover so who will guide my child to the proper boarding gate because being a first time overseas traveler he might not be aware where to go?

Looking forward to hearing from any forum member

What visa category exactly have you applied for (there are different types of dependent visas)?

What is your UK Immigration status?

Wouldn't your child not be a minor by the time he needs to go on a plane?

All airports have information kiosks/desks. He doesn't get the help a minor would as he will be an adult. If this will be challenging for him, book a direct flight.

No one can say for definite yes or no. The questions that will be asked are why have you only applied now at the last minute? Where is the other parent? Who has he been living with his whole life?

The other parent is based overseas and our government only allowed the mother letter of authority to apply for passport so I need to wait. Unfortunately she was only able to provide the letter last end of October.

Living with grand parent which is now had health issues.

Does it mean his visa can be rejected because he will be 18years old by the time the decision was made?

To bring a child (without the other parent), you have to prove sole responsibility. A letter of authority is perhaps not sufficient. The sole responsibility requirements are detailed in the link below.

immigration-for-family-members/sole-res ... 13087.html

The question will still be, why have you waited almost 18 years before applying?

Why have you not planned to bring him sooner?

Is his mother your ex wife or an ex girlfriend.....??

If your ex wife, are you divorced?
Does it mean his visa can be rejected because he will be 18years old by the time the decision was made?
Yes, there is a possibility it could be refused.

The letter of authority is only for the application of passport

I had managed to prove the sole responsibility my concern is the child being 18 years old by the time the decision was made

It took a long time because the mother refused to allow my child to reunite with me. She only had a change of mind when her mother could take care of our child

So in this forum someone actually been refused because of this scenario of 18 years old by the time a decision was made

No application outcome is guaranteed, seasoned solicitors can not even give you that assurance.
The application was made before child is 18 so may scale through.
How did you prove sole responsibility?

This seems to demonstrate that you don’t have sole responsibility.

I received this email and I need to add more documents. The UKVI portal to download docs has been closed. I had a few questions

1) How do I add more documents in my application? I'm based in the UK
2) Is this application will be reviewed in the UK?
3) What's the indicative timeline from this email to get a decision for a UK Dependent Visa?

Thanks in advance

Thanks. Just want to ask about the indicative timeline of the decision from the date the Entry Officer informed be that my application is being reviewed. I'm not that sure that the 24 weeks for overseas settlement application will be fully utilized during the review and decision process

There are existing timeline threads to give an indication only, as each application is unique in its own.
Some get it within, some decision takes longer.
