Passport and BRP expiring close to each other

Post by ksharma » Sat Jan 13, 2024 5:23 pm

Hi,

I am in UK on a skilled worker visa for last 3 years. Before this I was on ICT for 5 years, total 8 years in UK. My BRP is expiring on 22nd March and I'll be extending.

I am concerned about my daughter's visa. Her BRP also expires on 22nd March. She was born here and is under 18, and so has a short validity passport (5 years).

I submitted a passport renewal application for her on 5th January. The processing times quoted on Indian embassy website are 4-5 weeks, which means we might get it by mid feb.

However, I like to plan ahead. If there is a delay in processing or the courier is lost in transit what would be my options?

1. Can I apply for tatkal if the current application is still processing or lost in delivery?
2. If that doesn't work would my daughter need to leave the country and come back?
3. Is it possible to apply for a short BRP/visa extension in exceptional circumstances like this?
4. If she overstays, how strict are the rules for children given that parents have valid leave to remain? Will she be banned from entering the country?

Hopefully, none of this comes to pass, but I just tend to worry a lot.

You can apply for her visa without the passport and provide evidence of renewal and delay.

Thank you for the response. If this is possible it'd be a great relief. Do you have any reference to UK gov site, stating that this is possible?

Thanks
