Naturalisation query for family

Post by shwetatandel » Tue Jan 16, 2024 9:51 pm

Hi ,

I have recently completed 1 Year on ILR and now I am eligible to apply for naturalization for British citizenship. My spouse and one minor daughter are still on Tier 2 dependant Visa (another 2 years validity), they will complete the 5 years in Jan 2025 and would be eligible for ILR then.

I understand that assuming I apply for naturalization and my application is successful this year, my spouse does not have to wait for 1 year on ILR to apply for British citizenship. He can immediately apply once he gets the ILR as he would be the spouse of a British Citizen.
Does this apply to my minor daughter too, will she be able to apply with my spouse at the same time? Or can she apply after my spouse has his British citizenship or regardless of her parent's status she still has to wait 1 year on ILR?

She is India-born and will be 12 years old next year.

Any help will be appreciated.
