Change of Dependent VISA for Doctor in Training

Hi All,

We arrived in UK in October 2020. I am on Tier 2 (General) VISA while my wife is on PBS Dependent VISA. On my wife's VISA and BRP the remark reads as 'RESTRICTED WORK NO DR/DEN TRAIN OR SPORTSPERSON'. My wife is a Homoeopathy Doctor who has completed her studies and registration in India. My wife ventured into the Aesthetic treatments field after we found out that there is not much scope of Homeopathy in UK. After roughly 3 years in UK now, my wife wishes to study and become either Doctor, Dentist or venture into Nursing field to get a more stable job either via the HNC/HND route or University studies route. However, her current VISA status does not allow her to do so. We did write to a few unversities to confirm the same and they gave the same feedback as well.

Hence, we wish to change her VISA category and switch to another one which can allow her to study. The only VISA category which comes to our mind is the FLR(M) VISA however we fear that it may revind her time for ILR and not to mention the cost involved for the VISA +IHS as I understand the FLR(M) VISa is maximum for two and half years. Can some one please shed some light on this? Has anyone had similar situation and what decision did you take? Are there any other VISA categories to which she can shift to which would reduce our troubles? Can some one please give us some advice or suggestion for our scenario?

She doesnt qualify for flr m visa. Flr mr visa is if her spouse is british or has ilr, you do not meet that requirement.

The only option she has is is a student visa if she can get sponsored.

Alternatively, wait till she has ilr.

Hi CR001, Thank a lot for sharing the information and clarifyiung the requirements for the FLR(M) visa. I guess wiating for the ILR seems to be the only viable option unless we wish to go along the Student VISA route which would rewind her ILR time and the added cost involved.

A side question on the ILR, can we safely assume that once we both have the ILR status (which in this case is approximately about in a year and half) she would not have any restrictions on employment or studies? Is that correct?
