Sponsor license

Post by Ahmed1945 » Sat Feb 24, 2024 5:14 pm

I am a uk vat registered employer and running my own takeaway business. I want to apply for sponsorship license so I can bring workers in uk as it is very hard to keep permanent staff in uk as people leave jobs after a few weeks.
I want to apply for the business manger who can manage all aspects of running the business. I have looked online and can see that I might be able to apply for job code 1223 but I’m unsure. Can someone please help to clarify?
Thank you

There is no barrier to applying for a sponsor licence.
As for the job description / role - if your business can support the role and it is a genuine vacancy then by all means use that SOC.
I would suggest that most average sized takeaway businesses are unlikely to require a restaurant manager. Those that would are significantly large enterprises.
A restaurant manager should not be severing takeaway customers, or operating the till or cooking / preparing food. So the question is how would they be employed in a takeaway- solely managing the staff?

Thank you for your response.

Our takeaway now going to serve breakfast as well so will be open for almost 20 hours. I need some one to

Manage staff
Buy stock for optimum level necessary
Take care of health & safety
Customer liaison
Customer complaints
Ensure quality of food and service
Responsibility of cash control
Etc

I wound be there most of the time so I need someone to manage it basically for me.

Thanks

It is still a takeaway. Extending the hours does not really make a great deal of difference.
Is it a particular barrier- yes but you could be lucky.

very hard to keep permanent staff in uk as people leave jobs after a few weeks.
Have you tried to understand why? Could be the business, hours, pay or the owner micro-managing or treating staff poorly.

If it is the environment, then bringing staff from abroad isn't going to improve to keep staff.

There is one simple question - are you prepared to pay £38,700 for the role? If yes - go for it. If no - then that makes it a simple choice - you won’t be able to employ someone below that rate by the time you get a license.
