Absence: was the UK border actually ever closed during the pandemic?

Post by Alcibiades » Mon Feb 26, 2024 10:39 am

Hello,

as per the title, specifically was it closed inbound for an EU national that didn't have pre-settled nor settled status at the time eventhough he had been a resident since early 2016.
I can't find any evidence that it was, but at the same time it seems strange that it hasn't been for people with such a weak connection to the UK at the time.

Thanks

(pre)-EU Settled Status only came in late(?) 2019, but EEA residency cards were still valid at that time.
I you had been resident as an EU citizen in 2016 you were legal under EU free movement regulations - in principle you had a close connection to the UK (EU member then).
This is just my opinion as a member of this forum and does not constitute immigration advice.

If this query is related to absences, how many absences did you total exactly during the qualifying period?

Ok, so realistically, no emergency regulation could have kept me out of the UK at any time during the pandemic?

Loads, which is why I'm trying to shave off all I can, within reason and actual possibility, of course : )

If you provide us with a timeline of your absences and where you were we can try to help - some discretion is allowed by the rules, but hard to guess without more specific details about your absences.
