Naturalisation for a child (MN1) born outside UK

Post by Jimmy3 » Sat Apr 27, 2024 7:38 pm

Hello,

I have few questions regarding subject and would be grateful if someone can share their knowledge:

- I am naturalised , have a UK passport

Now i want to apply for naturalisation (to register?) of a child.

I have started to fill in the form but noticed that it is exactly the same as for an adult. Questions about bankruptcy, Life in UK test, English language test etc. It is correct form or not? i.e. is there any special online form for a child application?

second question - in section on farther`s nationality (which is about me) i need to mention both nationalities (original and British), dont I?

Thank you

If the child is under 18, it is an application to REGISTER as British. Only adults naturalised.

It is Form MN1 for children under 18. How old is the child? Does the child have ILR?

Yes.

Thanks CR001

(a) Child is under 18
(b) Child has ILR
(c) all requirements (absence from UK, 12m on ILR, etc, - are satisfied)

There is no absence limit or 12 months on ILR requirement for children under 18. Child could have applied when you did for citizenship, or as soon as you became British, provided the other parent also has ILR.

The correct form is : https://visas-immigration.service.gov.uk/product/mn1

Child is obviously the applicant.
