Hi Rajesh,Rajeshb6 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2024 10:32 pmHi,
I have recently received UK citizenship and as part of OCI have to renounce my Indian Citizenship. However my dependents are all in India and hold Indian Citizenship. My minor kid(elder) has a passport which will expire soon and my younger kid doesn't not have a passport. Both are ofcourse born in India. When I apply for renunciation, what will be the state of my minor kids?? I planned to go back to India hence applying for OCI. The section 8 of citizenship act seems to be unfair as per UN convention on statelessness for minor kids.
Hi Rajesh,
Hi Rajesh,
Have you tried mailing CGI Birmingham. I got a same day reply from them but they asked me to contact HCI London. HCI havent replied to my mail since a weekSivaquery wrote: ↑Sun May 05, 2024 10:42 amHi Rajesh,
Did you try applying for a passport for your kids in India? Was the application accepted?
We are thinking of travelling to India for the kids' passport renewal and would like to know if somebody already had some success.
No updates from the Embassy her in UK about this issue, so am trying to find any option available.
Thanks
Siva

This is extremely irresponsible on HCI's part. Just make some random new rules without any consideration to the consequencesSivaquery wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2024 2:45 pmHi
I have contacted all 3 CGIs (since 5 April 2024). London has not replied even after 3-4 mails, seems like their mail is not being monitored. CGI Birmingham asked me to contact Edinburgh (that's my jurisdiction). Edinburgh CGI mentioned they are awaiting instructions from Ministry.
I am trying to get a in person appointment to state our situation, but they are not allowing that also.

Have you tried applying the VFS appointment and try to go ahead with the renewal anyway. Maybe they have started to take the applications after the HC judgement. Worth a shot
This is the HC judgement. It's not the exact same scenario but might be helpful for us.Sivaquery wrote: ↑Wed May 08, 2024 11:56 am
Hi,
I tried to submit my kids application in VFS Edinburgh on 05/04/2024 the first time, it was not accepted.
The second time, I tried on 29/04/2024 again at VFS Edinburgh. It was not accepted this time too.
The staff at VFS keep on showing the pop-up message on the Indian passport Renunciation website and refuse to take the application.
What is this HC judgement that you have mentioned? Can you share the link please?
Thanks !rubyracer2 wrote: ↑Wed May 08, 2024 1:12 pmThis is the HC judgement. It's not the exact same scenario but might be helpful for us.Sivaquery wrote: ↑Wed May 08, 2024 11:56 am

Hi i tried PMing you but looks like you dont have them enabled. Are you able to PM me ?Sivaquery wrote: ↑Wed May 08, 2024 2:00 pm
Thanks !
If you don't mind sharing can I ask what other options are you looking at to legalise your kids' stay in UK?
I have been mailing and calling the embassy and other MEA emails. But no solution receieved.
I am not sure hiring a solicitor or lawyer can help us here in UK.
Do you have any suggestions ?
The user does not have PM access as it has been disabled due to them spamming the forum with social media links.rubyracer2 wrote: ↑Thu May 09, 2024 12:00 pmHi i tried PMing you but looks like you dont have them enabled. Are you able to PM me ?Sivaquery wrote: ↑Wed May 08, 2024 2:00 pm

Post in public so all can benefit!!
Ah understood Char! Unfortunately due to lethargic attitude of the Indian High Commission , a lot of people are stuck in limbo with their children not having any passport.
