I explained and requested if it can be extended and she said it doesn't work like that..and the next appointment is probably in January😭
Should I just go to the ceremony and see if they accept my GNIB or postpone it? And my travel document were they not suppose to return it back? Cuz I need to show my travel document on ceremony day..?!
Did you get sorted?

I'm in similar situation with IRP expiry which is due to expire on Wednesday and I have been waiting 3 months for an appointment. So after you posted here and saw others suggesttions I contacted the garda and told them I'm expecting to be invited to the citizenship ceremony on June. they replied and said we will put you on cancellation list. 2 hours later I got an appointment for the coming Monday!

So please try with the garda again and explain that you will not be allowed to attend the ceremony if you have expired IRP .

For me I still haven't received an approval or invitation yet , so I'm starting to lose hope to be included in the upcoming ones.

No, I'm stressed out I been waiting to get invitation for so long and when I do now my GNIB is another problem.. I been calling immigration they still saying I can't be invited before January, I emailed citizenship help desk and there's no reply! I also explained I can't attend without renewing it and they said it's not they're problem I have to wait just like everyone.
Are you based in Dublin?

I feel you there , it's such an unfortunate situation to be in .

it's such a pain , battling backlogs in two systems at the same time! I would suggest going to the garda station in person and bring with you the invitation letter printed and try to explain that you will have to wait another 6 months for the next ceremony if you miss this one .

No I'm not in Dublin of course, otherwise I will do it online not through the garda station . The current waiting times here is 6 months , which is crazy . I was bombarded with emails from my employer for this .

Hi guys, can I ask about this requirement to present residence permit at the ceremony? Is it stated in the invitation itself? Online information about the ceremony simply states that passport (or alternative form of ID is required). Thanks

Yes it's on the invitation email,
"If you are a holder of an Irish Residence Permit you will need to produce your IRP card on the day of the ceremony to provide evidence of your in-date permission. Failure to have a permission valid on the date of the ceremony will result in you being refused entry to the ceremony."

Hi all, do we need to bring our birth cert to the registration ceremony? On my email it says to bring the invite, declaration, passport and ID card.

I thought I read somewhere the birth cert was also needed. If anyone can clarify, that would be great.

What did you mean, peace23, by your comment that if I was in Dublin,I would do it online? Which website are you referring to, which might facilitate a renewal of an IRP, in time for the ceremony? Thanks

No need.

Also, ID card or IRP card?

If you're in Dublin, it's already too late now; they're currently processing applications submitted in second week of April, so it'll take about 2 - 2.5 months for you to get an IRP card.

Dear Team,

I am still waiting for my invitation. The payment has already been made. I emailed the team on May 24th, and they mentioned, "Please be advised invitations to the upcoming ceremonies continue to be issued."

Could you please let me know if the invitation will be sent by email or by post? I would appreciate any advice on this matter.

Thank you.

Best regards,
S

No. Once you're an Irish citizen, you cannot have it and need to apply for Irish passport (once you get the certificate).

I assume you're a refugee and sent a TD given by Ireland, not your passport from country of origin.

Yes, long time. I got the email from Citizenship Unit the message was...
"...
A Citizenship Certificate Fee was processed on 30/04/2024. You will receive a letter from this office in due course regarding the final stage of your Citizenship application....

Then you just have to wait.

You may or may not get an invitation for next ceremony.

Thanks meself2, sorry yes IRP card.

I came back through passport control at Dublin Airport a few weeks ago and had to show it. The young man was looking at it and flipping it over and over studying it. I said it's a very old one. He laughed and said he hadn't seen that style of card before.

I'll be so happy to not have to show it again.

That's a typical example of "one division contradicts the other".
If you can get a hold of a person and explain to him that it was stated to send it back, that might be your best option. Try to send an email to citizenshipinfo with that anf see what comes of it.
As a last resort, try an MP?

not sure though but I think they have not started sending invitations for Dublin ceremonies yet .

Based on previous ceremonies which happened across two days:
Killarney : accommodated 4000 applicants
Dublin: accommodated 6000 Applicants

They mentioned in the last update they will invite 10 000 applicants across 12 ceremonies ، so there are still 6000 yet to receive invitations.

Just a guess

Hi. Do you think that they have even sent out all the invitations for Killarney yet? I have only seen people mentioning 10th June here. Has anyone been invited to a ceremony on the 11th?
