Travel abroad on expired BRP while Naturalisation is pending.

Hi All,
My wife has an ILR for the UK and has applied for Naturalisation 3 months ago.
The BRP card is now expired, however she need to travel to India soon.

I assume going to India on her Indian passport is permissible however what documentation she will need to come back to the UK (considering BRP is expired)? Or is it even possible?

She won't be able to come back on an expired BRP. Has she been invited to register for an eVisa?

Yes, she has received a message to apply for Visa.

It states your BRP will expire on 31.12.2024 and you need toapply for eVisa after this date.

Not sure how why it says it will expire on 31.12.2024 while it is already expired?

That's a generic message as the latest time for BRP to expire is 31.12.2024

But you may not be able to persuade airline representatives to let your wife on a plane, as the card is expired.

If OP's wife registered for an eVisa, couldn't she use that to return to the UK? Are Stupid accepting this already?

Anyway, despit of receiving (generic) f email about eVisa. She can't apply for it because her BRP is expired.

Is there any other way that she could come back to UK if she travels now?

Secondly,
Would it be possible for her to travel and come back if she gets Naturalisation certificate but don't have British passport? Any detrimental effect of doing so on getting OCI later on ??

No. How would she attend her ceremony to get her certificate if she is abroad?? She is only British once she attends rhe ceremony.

She either needs a British passport or a valid brp card or evisa to return, that is to even get on a plane.

replacement BRP (single entry) visa that she can apply from India to come to the UK?

That can be applied for only if the BRP has been lost of stolen that I know of, not if you didn't renew it. Strongly suggest she applies for a replacement BRP before travelling or she may be stuck.
