Expiring Residence Permit Card

Post by tier2013 » Thu Jul 04, 2024 5:53 am

My "RESIDENCE PERMIT" card expires at the end of Dec 2024. I was granted Indefinite Leave to Remain in 2013, and the card was eventually issued in 2016.

Do I have to renew the card? I've read somewhere that these cards will move to some form of electronic format. Is this true?

Also, is it possible to renew the card if I am temporarily living outside the UK?

Do you know how I can travel after December 31st 2024 if information is being phased out from January 2025?

Please read the advice given above in the links provided. The proof of status will become digital and you may travel using your eVisa rather than a BRP, from next year

The service is intended to be open to all from the summer of 2024:
The Home Office has launched a phased rollout of eVisas to biometric residence permit (BRP). Initially this is to BRP holders by email invitation only, being sent in phases. The service will open to all BRP holders from summer 2024. Customers with BRPs do not need to do anything unless they receive an email, and don’t need to contact the Home Office if they do not receive an email immediately because the service will open to all in the summer.
Advice is given based on my personal research and experience only. Do NOT contact me via private message for immigration advice

It seems you haven't yet read the information on the links provided because the answers to your questions are in there. See eVisa - Guidance

The eVisa is not "issued" to anyone, it's an electronic/digital status.
