Advice Needed: Visa Extensions for Dependents After Obtaining Settled Status in UK

Post by vohrasv » Sun Jul 07, 2024 7:57 pm

I have recently obtained settled status in the UK.
My wife has been in the UK as my dependent on a Skilled Worker visa for the last 3 years. Prior to that, she was on a Tier 5 visa. So she hasn't completed her eligibility for ILR.
My two sons, aged 8 and 12, have been in the UK as my dependents on a Skilled Worker visa for the last 5 years.

Question:
Given my new settled status, which visa type should my wife and my two sons apply for to extend their stay in the UK? Specifically, which forms should they use and what is the process for applying?

They extend their skilled Worker dependent visas. It will be a 3 year extension for all of them.

Thanks for your revert

When my wife tries to extend her visa using the link below, there is no option to select my new settled status. The closest available option is to select my previous skilled worker visa. Should we choose that option?

She puts in your previous status as that is what the dependents extension is based on.

Hi team,

Follow-up question: When my wife is filling out her form and tries to pay the health surcharge, it asks for specifics about my skilled worker visa type and the expiry date of my visa.

I obtained my settlement through the skilled worker visa 5-year route, so I have listed that as the visa type. However, I am unsure what to put for the visa expiry date since I have already achieved settlement.

Could you please advise on the appropriate date to enter?

Thanks

The expiry date is three years in the future.

thanks a lot, we have submitted the application - really appreciate the help we have got through this forum.

After check, form never asked for how much we need to apply? I understand we should get 3 years visa for dependent? Is there a way we can validate that?

It will be a 3 year extension. UKVI know the rules, you don't have to tell them. It is stated in the Immigration Rules that it is a 3 year extension if the main visa holder has ILR.
