Date to apply for ILR

Post by zaifisafi » Thu Feb 29, 2024 4:43 pm

Hi

I had question regarding when to apply for ILR, as gov site it is 28 days before 5 years get completed. My Visa expires on 26th June 2024 and my 5 years are completed on 11th of June 2024 (as I arrived on 11th June 2019) in UK. So what date is 28 days before ?

Thank you

Zaifi

Really simple maths to be honest.

You take the date your initial visa was valid from, add 5 years and then subtract 28 days!

Your qualifying period starts from initial visa issue date and not the date you arrived in the UK.

Resigning from Job whilst ILR being processed (Ancestral visa)

Post by mitchh » Mon Jul 15, 2024 3:31 pm

I am currently waiting for my ILR (12 weeks and counting). I have been in the UK for 5+ years on an ancestral visa. Part of the application was to provide a letter from current employer detailing employment at the company, however I have since got another job offer and wish to resign.
If I resign now, will this affect my application? Would they reject it outright or ask me to provide more evidence if they contact my company and they inform HO of my resignation?

No effect. The facts must be true when you applied for the visa. There are no specific employment requirement under this route anyway

The relevant bit is the circumstances as at the date of submission of your application. There will be no impact or rejection of your application because you changed job after submission.
