Difficulty in Obtaining Short-Term Dependent Visa for Tier 2 Worker

Post by Aly_Ghazanfar » Mon Aug 05, 2024 12:40 pm

I am a Pakistani national on a Tier 2 Skilled Worker visa in the UK with a 5-year Certificate of Sponsorship. I am facing difficulties applying for a dependent visa for my family. The UK government website is not allowing me to apply for a one or two-year dependent visa due to financial constraints.

I understand that typically, dependent visas are issued for the same duration as the main applicant's visa. However, due to financial limitations, I cannot afford the fees associated with a 5-year dependent visa for my family at this time.

Are there any alternative options or exemptions to obtain a shorter dependent visa, such as one or two years? Has anyone encountered similar challenges and found a solution?

I would greatly appreciate any advice, guidance, or recommendations from immigration experts or individuals who have been in a similar situation.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

No. SW 36.1.(a) specifies the dependants’ duration.

Thank You,
Is there any workaround available in this case? Can the solicitor prepare some exception to get one year or two-year visa for the family

There isn't. A depedents visa is based on the immigration rules and the main visa holder visa length. A solicitor can't change that and what you describe as exceptional is not exceptional. The costs are publicly available on the ukvi website, visa applicants need to plan accordingly.
