Are you able to provide a biometric residence permit (BRP) card with this application?

Post by ColorfulS » Tue Aug 20, 2024 8:42 pm

Hi, i am applying for British citizenship, it has been 6 years for me living in UK , first 5 years I held tier 2 general work visa BRP and last year after 5 years this time I applied and got my ILR settlement, so now to answer to this question, should i say Yes? Because ILR is a BRP? Or say no because i cut my BRP card last year and posted to home office?
Appreciate any advice.
Thanks

Referee

Post by ColorfulS » Tue Aug 20, 2024 8:46 pm

Hi, i am choosing 2 friends for referee: 1 is a marketing manager and working in a corporate and she has been a referee for many people so far, is that a negative point?
Secondly a friend who is a software developer and also employed in a corporate job,
Are these professions OK?
How can I know?

When I applied for ILR last year i cut my previous tier 2 general BRP card and send back to home office and yes I received a new card which is a resistance permit with indefinite leave to remain status , is that considered as a BRP?

An ilr brp card is a brp card. Not sure why you are finding this question confusing if it asks do you have a
brp??

That is your ILR BRP.

Ok thanks, so if i have a ILR BRP card i must answer yes to this question right?
I think i got confused because my tier 2 generic resistance permit called BRP and the SETTLEMENT Resident permit card was called ILR so i thought maybe it is not a BRP

You must answer Yes to the BRP question.

BRP means Biometric Residence Permit which is the card you received every time you applied to stay in the UK.

ILR means Indefinite Leave to Remain which is your current status, it's not the card. Once you were granted ILR you received a BRP card corresponding to this status. Hence you have a BRP card and should answer "yes".

There is an official list on the gov.uk website. Yes of course your friend who has been a referee before can be one for you again - why would it count against you?Second referee also fine provided they are over 25.

I read somewhere if your referee has been referee for so many people it might be a negative point?
I am not sure if their professions are acceptable? Is a software developer considered as a professional?

If kot on an official ukvi website or document, don't belive everything you read on random websites.

No it is not. You only need ONE professional referee, not two!!

Why would it be a negative point. Unless she has been a referee for someone that wasn't eligible, then she would have received a conviction for that and become ineligible. My professional referee had also been a referee before and no issue at all. She has a corporate job so that means she is eligible as a professional referee, the second referee has to be British and over 25, but not necessarily a professional on the list.
