Evisa and linking passport

Post by indian89 » Fri Aug 30, 2024 9:55 pm

My BRP expires on December 31st 2024 and I have indefinite leave to remain.

Have created evisa and able to check immigration status. My linked document shows as my BRP.

Should I also link my passport although my passport does not have immigration in it apart from when I first entered UK vignette?

Thanks Zimba.

I am still confused on one thing. If I go on holiday early November and come back end of November to UK can I still use my physical BRP? BRP will have expiry until 31st December....

You should be able to, as per current guidance.

Thanks someone said brp card has to have 3 month expiry at point if return to allow reentry but this sounds made up?

There's no such rule - you just need a valid BRP (and passport).
This is just my opinion as a member of this forum and does not constitute immigration advice.

All BRPs remain valid for travel until expiry. Do not listen to random people

As the BRP is due for expiry for December 2024 and I have now linked to evisa do I need to pay anything to renew my ILR??

I plan to apply for citizenship in early 2025 but not sure if ILR runs out after December 2024?

No! It is NOT ILR that expires but the BRP CARD!

It is the BRP ONLY that expires, NOT your ILR status!

ILR is a permanent status and does not expire, the 'I' in ILR stands for indefinite. You do not renew anything. Your BRP is just a travel document and all BRPS will replaced by eVisa from next year. No one will have a valid BRP from 1 Jan 2025

Information on eVisas as all BPRs will be phased out from 1st Jan 2025

Once you can view your evisa you will have to add your latest passport to it as the BRP expires in Dec 2025
