Resigning Soon: Can I Travel before my visa is curtailed?

Post by Chandit07 » Fri Sep 27, 2024 10:33 pm

Hi everyone,

I’m resigning from my job at the end of this month after 1 year 4 months working. I’m currently on a 3-year Skilled Worker visa. I have a pre-booked holiday next week, so I’ll be traveling.

I have a few questions:

1. Can I travel outside the UK and return after my CoS has been withdrawn?

2. I haven’t received my curtailment letter yet. Does anyone know how long it usually takes to arrive?

3. Is it possible to travel outside the UK before receiving the curtailment letter? (This relates to Q1)

4. I’m planning to apply for a Global Talent Visa. If I apply after receiving the curtailment letter, will I still be eligible for a refund or credit for the overlapping IHS fees I paid for my 3-year visa?

Thanks for any advice or help!

Risky, if travelling.

If you make an application, then they should refund IHS fees for an overlapping period.

I have consulted to immigration advisor.

Sheffield said before curtailment letter comes I am still can able to travel and return to UK.

Immigration might does not know about my employment has ended as my visa still on until 2026. If they ask I can say I return to UK to apply for global talent visa.

But I don't have any experience yet. Anyone here has had experience traveling after the sponsorship has been withdrawn?

Your employer has to inform uk that your employment has ended and they no longer sponsor you within 10 days of you leaving your job. That is what triggers the curtailment and cancellation.

Please click on the link vinny has provided, ie the word "risky".
