Biometrics appointment AFTER 45 days?

Post by adisays » Mon Nov 11, 2024 9:10 pm

Hello folks, I am in the middle of applying for naturalisation. My application is fairly straightforward as I am single, from the US & have had ILR since 2019 and been in the UK continuously on Tier 2 visas since 2014. I would like to submit my naturalisation application by this Friday, November 15th, as I am due to travel to the US on the 16th, and I will be out of the UK till Jan 1st, 2025 due to a combination of work & personal travel. I don't want this 2 month period to count towards my qualifying period hence my desire to apply ahead of time. I understand from the guidance booklet that I'm free to travel once I submit my application, but it says that I need to make a biometrics appointment within 45 days, and that my application may be invalidated if I don't do that. The guidance also says they "may" use my previously submitted biometrics (that I had for ILR), but of course I have no way of knowing if they will make me do it again or not. Has anyone experienced any flexibility with booking biometrics beyond 45 days? I really don't need longer than 60 days, but don't want to risk my application.

Thank you!

Thank you for your quick reply.

Is there anywhere where it states 45 working days? In the guidance on page 40 (https://assets.publishing.service.gov.u ... y+2024.pdf), it just says 45 days. I am literally gone a total of 48 (non working) days, so it's annoying to be over by a hair... still I would be grateful to confirm working days:

When I applied I remember that it stated a date for me to attend biometrics to be consistent with 45 working days rather than calendar days. I can't recall an explicit mention in the guidance though. The only way to be sure would be to be back earlier and attend the appointment, though if the mark is at the beginning of January there will be fewer appointments due to the holiday period.

I dont know if this will help you, but if you refresh through out the day, especially at 3pm-5pm, you might get next day biomatric appointment, which maybe helpful for you to take before you go.

That is what I have done.

I think OP wants to apply on the 15 Nov so can't see appointments yet.
