*Urgent* - Extending student visa after being granted fee waiver, where to enter token code?

Post by mabarboy » Mon Dec 09, 2024 6:36 pm

I'm a PhD student and about to apply for my Student Visa extension. Since I cannot afford the fees and no longer being sponsored, I've been granted a fee waiver token code. However, I urgently need help with how to use this code as nowhere in the payment section of my online immigration application I can enter the code.

I have learnt from some students' advisory websites that if my fee waiver application is successful, I should make a human rights-based application. But can someone specify how to start this application so that I can complete my study?

Please can someone help as I have 1 day left before the code expires!?

Thanks.

You cannot apply for a student visa extension if you are no longer sponsored by your education institution and this visa doesn't qualify for a fee waiver.

What reasons have you given for a fee waiver?

How long have you been in the UK?

Fee waiver is for FLR(FP) applications based on private life, which has specific requirements.

You need to provide more details of your circumstances.

My apologies, I'm still sponsored by my educational institution, however by no longer being sponsored I meant no longer receiving funding from my scholarship sponsor. I've been in the UK for more than 6 years now and also suffering from health issues during my PhD. The reasons that I have given in my fee waiver application were my family's living with me and paying the fees will affect my children's wellbeing, in addition to my own health issues.

Fee wavier does not apply to student routes. You need to be eligible under a family/private life route.

Is your student visa and dependents still valid?

Yeah, that's why the other website said I should make a human rights-based application.

My student visa and dependents were valid at the time we filled out the application forms but expired now by the time we received the fee waiver token code.

It appears as your only option. As your visa already expired you can now probably only make an application covered by the fee wavier.

Take into account that this application is highly complex but it will probably buy you a bit more time on section 3C.

From how I understand your situation then it's probably this form,

https://visas-immigration.service.gov.u ... ct/flr-hro

In most cases the form you attached requires someone in your close family to be British, settled refugee or stateless.

Please be aware that what I say does not constitute any advice. Your case is complicated and I'm not an immigration advisor.
I highly recommend that you get professional advice from someone qualified.
