Child Dependent Visa validity after parents getting ILR

Post by madhanmano » Thu Feb 27, 2025 4:18 pm

My wife and I are currently applying for ILR through the 5-year Skilled work visa route. We will complete 5 years next month. My wife is the main Skilled worker Visa holder and my daughter & I are her dependents. Our recently renewed Skilled work visa (and the dependent Visas) still have 1+ year of validity.

My daughter was born in the UK 3 years ago, so we are not applying ILR for her as we can directly apply for naturalisation after we both get the ILR. Assuming that we would get our ILRs in a month, we are now confused about my daughter's naturalisation process as we have long travel plans in 2 months time and we booked our flight tickets already. We think that the naturalisation process takes some time and might affect our travel plans.

Here is my question:
What happens to my daughter's current Skilled work dependent visa after we both get our ILRs? Does it become void or will it be still valid?
If she can continue with her current Skilled worked dependent Visa (which expires only in 2026), we can postpone the naturalisation process after our travel. Kindly assist. Thanks

Nothing happens to her visa. It remains valid.

Thanks @CR001, that's very helpful.
Just checking, what happens to our Skilled work Visas then? Will they become void after we get the ILRs or will they also remain valid (like our daughter's)?

When you get ILR, your immigration status changes. Your old status is therefore no longer valid
