Valid evisa(spouse) but vignette expiring before first travel

Post by aman90 » Fri Feb 28, 2025 11:45 pm

Heya…hope this is the right forum for this query!
Would like to alleviate some concerns of a relative who was granted spouse entry clearance in Dec 2024.
She’s considering to delay travel due to a close family member’s illness. She’s got her evisa sorted. Her vignette expires next week.
Question is.. does she need to apply for a new vignette keeping in view she has an evisa? Illogical considering she has the clearance till 2027.
How tedious of a task is it? If she does need to apply for a vignette does the sponsor need to provide all evidences again and a new TB test.
How long does it normally take?(official guidance says three weeks. Could it be earlier?)
Does she need to provide evidence for the reason of delay or just stating it shall suffice?
Will it impact her entry clearance? She fears her visa maybe cancelled 🤦
She is aware that she needs to get to the uk sooner rather than later to avoid costly extensions in the future.
Hoping to get some insight as soon as possible to take a decision to either leave now or extend the vignette.
Thanks everyone.

She’s considering to delay travel due to a close family member’s illness. She’s got her evisa sorted. Her vignette expires next week. Once her vignette expires, she'll need to make another application at home country.
Question is.. does she need to apply for a new vignette keeping in view she has an evisa? Illogical considering she has the clearance till 2027. It's relatively new. The Old way would have been she "MUST" enter within the validity of the vignette. Not sure if she can gamble with E-visa, and what's the start date for that?
How tedious of a task is it? If she does need to apply for a vignette does the sponsor need to provide all evidences again and a new TB test. TB test is valid for 6 months from date of issue
How long does it normally take?(official guidance says three weeks. Could it be earlier?)
Does she need to provide evidence for the reason of delay or just stating it shall suffice? Easiest way would be to enter the UK, thereby activating the visa. Then she can travel back and spend as much time with the family without fear of "what ifs".
Will it impact her entry clearance? She fears her visa maybe cancelled 🤦 Uncharted territory
She is aware that she needs to get to the uk sooner rather than later to avoid costly extensions in the future. That's correct
Hoping to get some insight as soon as possible to take a decision to either leave now or extend the vignette.
Thanks everyone.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!

it’ll be a replacement vignette application costing £152 not another spouse visa application.

the start date is the same as the vignette only the end date is obviously longer. I thought they were all like that. Which other route has a different start date on the vignette vs visa? Curious,

not sure why ur mentioning this? Are all documents required again?

That’s not a possibility as someone is palliative.

fear mongering in my opinion. When people don’t have answers they like to speculate.

Yes but that can be covered in a number of ways. Like applying on the last day and delaying biometrics. The visa extension will have the decision date and won’t start from previous expiry (covered by 3C)
