Validity of Dependent Visa, once ILR obtained

Post by KatieK123456 » Fri Mar 21, 2025 1:18 pm

Hi there

I was granted Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) in February 2025 while on a Tier 2 visa. I have two children who were born in the UK and were dependents on my Tier 2 visa. Their current visas are set to expire in a year's time i.e February 2026. As such, I plan to apply for their citizenship via MN1 in due course.

I have a question regarding travel outside the UK during this period. If I leave the UK, will my children be allowed to re-enter if their MN1 applications are still pending? I checked their immigration status online, and it indicates that their visa is stil valid and expiring in February 2026, in line with my previous Tier 2 visa.
However, since I now hold ILR, I'm concerned this might affect their status, as I am no longer on a Tier 2 visa. Although I still work for my sponsored company, I want to ensure there are no technical issues that could invalidate their visas or cause problems with their re-entry while their MN1 applications are pending.

Many thanks

Their visa remain valid until expiry date. They are free to travel.
