Appx FM spouse visa App Refusal

Post by hexa » Mon Apr 21, 2025 12:08 am

Hello all,
I need an urgent support.
My friend has british citizenship. He got married two months ago in Turkiye, and they applied for a spouse visa early april. Yesterday, they received a refusal letter which is very shocking.
Refusal reason is that the financial requirement is not met. However, my friend is a self employed director at his company with an annual net company profit of £25000 (ct600 Jul2023-july 2024) . He also has showed £29750 in his personal annual income (SA100 april 2023-april2024).
He had £9750 directors salary and £20000 dividends shown in the annual accounts and tax returns. In the letter, they say the personal bank statement in the period of ct600 does not cover £29000, and so they refused. This seemed to me very absurd because he received around £21000 bank transfer and the rest as cash. Why is this an issue? is it compulsory to reflect all the personal income in your bank statement? in that case, what do people with cash income do to proove their income? Is the tax return not enough to proove annual income?

Any comments is appreciated.

All the best

h

No. You need to provide two proofs of income, which should match each other. So, for instance, if you are salaried, you'd need either pay slips or your P60 AND the corresponding bank statements. One or the other won't do. And the amounts, at least re net salary, need to match between each pay slip and bank credit.

They will not account for any cash in hand. He would need to demonstrate that they were generated by his business. Can he provide his accounts to prove that the cash were generated by his business?

In any case, he should also be depositing it in his bank account to generate a paper trail.

I had received a refusal on my initial application because the salary payments in the bank didn't match the way the case worker was computing my salary from the pay slips. I took the matter to administrative review and went through a line-by-line explanation of my salary payments and salary structure. I was issued my visa after that. Still have the original refusal letter :)

Dear secret.simon,

Thank you so much for the reply.
In my friends case, he is a business owner and his income are both from salary (£9750) and dividends (£20000). so they don't take the dividend into account? He can show all the income from his business as his corporate income is good enough. He has a right to appeal. Is it not the same with admin review? Can he get the decision turned positive only by online appeal?
