I received my ILR - do I need to do anything else? do I need to link this with my online UKVI account or would I be getting a physical BRP with no end date. I am confused how would I prove my ILR status to a job/schengen visa application

Yes.

would I be getting a physical BRP with no end date.

BRPs are no longer issued. All previous BRPs expired on 31st December 2024 when they were replaced by e-visa.
