Previous Immigration applications

Post by DasSys » Sun May 18, 2025 8:31 am

I am submitting an application for naturalisation and there is a question about previous immigration applications to the UK.
I have an ILR through the 5 year route and held another work visa before that which does not count towards ILR.
Do I have to submit details of all previous immigration applications ever made?
I don't have the records of application and appointment dates for those.

Yes, all previous applications (except visitor visas).
Provide as many details as you can - approximate month/year is fine.
Some boxes are "if known" anyway. It's not an issue that could jeopardise your application.

I have progressed filling the applications but have a few more points I am looking for help on

1. Can the same 2 referees be used for the family? (parents and children). In my case, all of us got the ILR at the same time and hence applying for naturalisation together.

2. Does the criteria of being part of a chartered/professional body matter as long as the referees are British nationals over 25 yrs of age? One of them is a manager in limited company.

3. I heard that one of the referees for a child should be someone who have worked with that child in a professional capacity (e.g.teacher) but we are unable to get one to agree. Will it affect the application?

4. Is Passport enough for proof of living in the UK? Passports do not have UK entry stamp for the last one year now that the border control have done away with it. Should I give P60s or letters from employers?

Thanks.

2. Does the criteria of being part of a chartered/professional body matter as long as the referees are British nationals over 25 yrs of age? One of them is a manager in limited company. Yes it does apply. One referee needs to be a professional on the approved list.

3. I heard that one of the referees for a child should be someone who have worked with that child in a professional capacity (e.g.teacher) but we are unable to get one to agree. Will it affect the application? No. This is a well known issue to UKVI. Explain in a cover letter that you have asked teachers and they refused.

4. Is Passport enough for proof of living in the UK? Passports do not have UK entry stamp for the last one year now that the border control have done away with it. Should I give P60s or letters from employers? Passports are enough.

Thanks.
