Not sending my Passport?

Hello

Is there any way I can send my first adult UK passport application without enclosing my current passport as I might need to travel abroad? I heard I can go to the post office and get some kind of attestation, I wonder if anyone has experience with this.

Also, I renewed my passport during the past 5 years, should I enclose both passports or just the valid one is needed as supporting document?

You must send your original current passport and all uncancelled passports.

Passports are currently taking between 10 days and 3 weeks.

To expand on CR001's answer above, "all uncancelled passports" includes expired passports that have not been cancelled by the issuing government.

Cancelled passports will typically have a specific corner cut off and stamped as cancelled on its internal pages.

So if you have expired passports that have not been cancelled by the issuing government, you need to submit them as well.
