Thanks very much. Can I say 'No' to the question 'Does the referee have a British Passport' ?CR001 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 12, 2025 1:12 pm1. Your friend is talking nonsense. You are NOT claiming citizenship through a parent and do NOT havr to upload all tbeir documents. Their details are irrelevant and have no bearing on your application. Please, do yourself a favour and stop listening to friends etc. The official guidance is clear on the requirments and documents.
2. ILR and citizesnship are two completely different processs and rules. IlR is ILR. You are overthinking.
3. You only need one referee that is British and over 25, preferably with a valid passport. The professional referee can be any nationality.
Thanks a lot for sharing this with me. Feeling more confident now.

You need two referees that meet two different requirements.
Hi, looks like you've answered my question. Both my referees are British and Professionals as required. One has to renew their passport. So, I'll use theirs as first referee.secret.simon wrote: ↑Sun Sep 14, 2025 8:00 pmYou need two referees that meet two different requirements.
The first should be a professional referee, which need to either have specific jobs or be a member of a professional organisation. This referee does npot need to have a passport.
The second referee can be any British citizen with a passport. This referee needs to have a British passport.
Which type of referee are you referring to?

I have another few questions now.
My spouse finally changed her mind and wants to apply for naturalisation. We are planning to apply together. She is meeting all the eligibility requirements as she's held ILR for more than 2 years and the absence requirements are met too.
Our daughter had her ILR approved this year January.
1. While applying, can we add our child as well? (we don't have our UK citizenship already) yes
Also on employment, I left my employer last week and joined another employer already. My details won't be updated on HMRC yet. declare the new employer, payslips are not needed
2. Should I give the the new employers details ? (bearing in mind my payslips aren't available yet).
