UK spouse visa extension form question

Post by Daisy008 » Mon Sep 15, 2025 9:01 pm

Hello

Have a couple of queries on the application form. My husband is a British National and I an Indian national. I travel to India and stay there for about 5 months as my mother is old and needs care. When in the UK my husband and i travel on holiday outside the UK.
For the question in the form
1. Have you been out of the UK since you started living here. - Should we add holidays also?

It dependens on the visa expiry date and the date spouse entered the uk.

One thing to keep in mind is that you should not travel outside the UK (or technically, the Common Travel Area) from the date of application for extension till the date you are notified that you have been granted an extension.

If you submit the application and then leave the UK, the application is automatically considered withdrawn and you won't get a refund.
Immigration Rule 34K wrote:34K. Where a decision on an application for permission to stay has not been made and the applicant travels outside the common travel area their application will be treated as withdrawn on the date the applicant left the common travel area.
And if your previous leave has expired while you are abroad, you will need to make a new entry clearance application and your ILR clock will be reset to zero.

Factor all of that in when you are planning to make your renewal application and whether you want to pay the additional fee for (and can find a slot for) a priority or super-priority application.
