APPLICATION FOR ILR ON SKILLED WORKER VISA(HEALTH AND CARE VISA)

Post by wearemany » Sat Jan 31, 2026 12:08 pm

Good morning team.
Trust you are good and well done.
please I need clarity on this process.

I came into the UK June 2021 on a student dependent visa, switched to post study dependent visa in September 2022 and got a skilled worker visa in September 2024.
my 5 year continuous stay in the UK will be this June 2026.

My question is:
1. Is there a possibility of switching to ILR this year or I have to complete the 5 years on the skilled worker route.
2. I came with my child in June 2021, does the child 7 years rule apply.

Thank you in anticipation of your response.

1. You need 5 years on skilled worker visa route. The immigration rules dont allow you to combine dependent visa time and main visa time for ilr based on 5 years residence.

2. The 7 year rule does not apply to your child.
