Can I travel straightaway or do i need to do anything more?

Post by indian89 » Fri Mar 20, 2026 10:13 am

Got my british passport yesterday. I want to travel to europe for a holiday next month.

Do I need to wait for anything else or do anything else before travel? I have not surrendered my old indian passport but obviously that is no longer valid anyway.

You can travel straightaway, subject of course to any visa requirements. For EU there's a time limit of 90 days stay, and later in the year the ETIAS requirement comes into force, same as the UK ETA (ETA doesn't apply to British citizens of course). If you travel with family members who are not British they need a visa for EU countries).
