Global Talent to ILR Application form: First entered the UK date

Post by patelbrijesh » Fri May 01, 2026 2:55 pm

I am applying for ILR after finishing qualifying period through Global talent visa route .

In application form it ask about 'When did you first enter the UK?, in descriptions it says that 'This is the date you entered the UK when the period of stay you are basing this application on started.

I first entered the UK in February 2019 on a Student visa and later switched to a Skilled Worker visa in May 2023. I am therefore basing my calculation from May 2023, even though I originally entered the UK in 2019.

Which date I need to enter Feb 2019 or May 2023?

In a later section, I am required to provide my full travel history which I have provided since 2019. Would this create any inconsistency?

That question has no bearing on the ILR decision making. Enter the date you first entered the UK.
You only need to provide travel history for the last 5 years, covering your qualifying ILR period

Thank you very much for your response.
I would like to clarify two points in more detail.
1. Date of first entry to the UK
My student visa was issued with a start date of 04/02/2019, but I physically entered the UK on 25/02/2019, as shown by my passport entry stamp. For the purposes of the ILR application, which date is more appropriate to enter as my first entry to the UK?
2. Dependent visa extension for my wife
I am also applying to extend my wife’s dependent visa. When I was granted a Skilled Worker visa in May 2023, my wife received a dependent visa valid for three years, aligned with my visa. I later switched to a Global Talent visa in June 2024. At that time, there was no requirement for my wife to switch her visa, as her dependent visa remained valid.
I am now eligible to apply for ILR and plan to submit my ILR application first. I then intend to submit my wife’s dependent visa extension application one or two days later, using the Global Talent Dependent Partner route.
In her application, I am planning to request a 3‑year extension and pay the corresponding IHS fees. However, my current Global Talent visa is due to expire mid‑next year.
Could you please confirm whether this approach is correct, or if there is anything I should do differently?

Also, the dependent visa application form is formally asking for only one document, which is my wife’s passport. Could you please advise whether there are any additional documents that I should submit voluntarily to support her application, such as her current eVisa status, council tax bill, salary slips, or any other supporting evidence?

Thanks Agian.

1. The form clearly says Date of ENTRY. It doesn't say visa start date for that question!!!

Please ask dependent visa extension questions in the correct sub forum. These questions are not relevant to the ILR sub forum.
