Surname change advice

Hi Team,

Please can ask for advice, I recieved my british citizenship in March, but I would like to change my surname to my husbands name before applying for British passport. I just wanted to ask if can do it before applying or after, I checked on Internet but wasnt able to find anything.

A British passport will be issued in the name of your foreign passport.

So if you wish to change your name, you need to change your foreign passport first

I am having same issue aswell. Please could you confirm if I need to apply for british passport using same surname as my citizenship certificate and then reapply for a surname change.

@VR2611 @KV6721, crucial question: do you have any uncancelled non-British passports?

If you do, you need to change your name on them first, before requesting a British passport in a new name.
