No Need to come to UK

Post by gaugupta » Sun Feb 22, 2009 7:49 pm

Hi All,

Market is not at all good here. I have couple of friends who came over here but they have not got any job in there hand from last 5 month.

Earlier they used to get atleast 1 call in a day but now no hope for them as
some of consultant they just say you are not british so you are not eligible.

Here most of the consultant are preferring British People only.

Still if you want then you can come but I would say its better try option in your country to make carrer for atleast 2 yrs till market stablise here.

All the best -> Still choice is yours

that sounds a bit generalistic and dismal.

highly skilled people should be the ones to benefit the most of of the current climate, where employers can afford to pick and choose the cream of the crop.

my company has been struggling to find enough people for the past year and still, as of last week, are taking on nonEU people - many of which are Indians on a Tier1/ work permit secondment.

maybe your friends need to be flexible about where they will work in the uk?
maybe they need to assess just how highly skilled they are, compared to the competition?

If i was applying just now, i would be more worried about this weekends announcements re: masters and family

Please don't jump to conclusions based on few odd cases. If you are highly skilled there should be enough jobs for you in the market.

I appreciate that the market is slowing down, but you can change your methodologies accordingly, broaden your area of search, do not rely on handful of agencies & keep trying, you got highly skilled visa as you have the skills, you need to decide how to best utilize them...

Good luck!

Hi All,

I agree with some of you people but I disagree also. If you check job on jobserver or cwjobs any jobs it clearly says British National preferred.

Also If you are in UK and want to switch job then also you may have to face these issue.

I just put my thoughts here as I am talking about problem faced by most of individuals.

Correct me if i am wrong

Thanks

Gaurav

so you actually counted every job on jobserve to deduce that majority ask for British national only ? i spent a few minutes on it now, and couldnt find any.

Only time i've ever seen 'british nationals only' was due to requiring high security clearance, which would take a long time for foreigners of certain nationalities to get, and that company needs people to start now.
I called them to say who i was, where i was from, how long i had been in UK etc and they said 'no problems...please apply'.

so please call the 'offending' agent(s) and tell us what the real reason is
