How to get an urgent Tier 1 (General) visa?

Post by jafars » Mon Mar 02, 2009 11:26 pm

Hi All,

I need to apply for Tier 1 (General) visa ASAP and must get my passport back before 19th of March. Does anybody know that I can apply for an urgent visa and my passport back sooner than the normal processing time? what are the criteria for an urgent visa? what is an urgent case?

Thanks

Are you applying from within the UK or outside UK?

Considering you have a valid reason you can try sending urgent treatement form/ request....

Not sure if they still do UT form for Tier 1.. but Fax will work..

I could not find the initial document which was for Tier 1 but found the same for WP.

http://www.bia.homeoffice.gov.uk/siteco ... est_flried

As far as i can remember it used to be the same for tier 1. In my case (Tier 1 extn.) i sent them fax explaining my situation with the supporting documents.... so most likely they are accepting faxes.. you can call BIA helpline to conform this.

I am sure u must have some valid reason for your passport to be back by 19th. If you send some supporting documents, it should be fine.. again its up to HO to accept the reason....

Hi jafars,

The BIA does not consider any urgent request for Tier1 officially, unlike the HSMP. However they will speed up the process in case you "really" have a "valid reason". You will need to fax them your reason with the supporting documents (I had done this).

Travel plans do not figure in the reasons for urgent request - "Requests for urgent treatment will only be considered in exceptional circumstances. This will not normally include circumstances where, for example, the employee has made travel plans or a start date for the employment has been agreed before a decision is made." http://www.bia.homeoffice.gov.uk/workin ... lications/

I would also request you to not abuse the system in case you don't have a really urgent system. Else this would only slow down process for other patient applicants. Please fax ur genuine reason and leave it upto them.
