Benelux is shortened for Belgium-Netherlands-Luxembourg.

I do believe this is not a schengen visa but instead limited to those three countries.

Anyone?

I never heard a Benelux visa b4.

I believe its gonna be a Schengen visa but valid only for the Benelux countries and it shouldnt be more than 14days since you are going for just visit.

But incase they issue you a visa that says Benelux...kindly give us the information here just to have a clue of how it is.

Hi traveler,

The other day I got a BeNeLux visa too.

Reasoning in my case was, that the (Belgian) embassy "lost" our Schengen-application, as such we still didn´t get a visa even after 1 month handling time.

At the time I wanted to go home for Christmas together with my wife, so I told the embassy if we miss Christmas at home because of their negligence I would talk to a lawyer and see what can be done...

...two days later we got the BeNeLux Visa to allow for our Christmas-trip.

Little extra-thought: We actually needed the Schengen-Visa, as we wanted to go to Aachen, which is in Germany just next to the Belgian border. So I asked them what´s the difference between a "Schengen" and a BeNeLux. The answer is:
  • The territory for which the visa is valid AND
  • if a BeNeLux-Visa is issued, they don´t have to pass the applicant through the Schengen-Security-System, which allows them to issue the visa more quickly. They said that this is only done in emergencies, such as apparently ours.
Now what´s the sense in that?? If we´d really want to do bad stuff, who would hinders us to cross the Belgian/German border, even without a visa?

That´s just another thing which is badly thought-out in the European visa"system".

So, I was right. It is not schengen visa after all but limited to those three countries.
A trinational visa.

So you mean these countries still issue their national visas even when they are a full member of Schengen ?
