wife of UK Citizen with ILR , how to holiday in europe

Post by sreeni » Wed Jan 26, 2011 9:34 am

Hi all, i have after many years returned to this board as i have a question. My wife who is indian and has an indian passport has already got her ILR. We have been married over 7 years and have 2 kids now. All the visa and needed process for this went swimmingly well thanks to the people on this board.

My question is we are plannig to go on holiday with a group of other family freinds and relatives to Paris, now i am not sure wether my wife needs a france visa or not. I seem to recall from along time ago about a Family Permit visa which was equivalent to the ILR that allowed travel to anywhere in europe, is this still the case? and also that it was free. does this still exist ? can my wife apply for it? or do we have to apply for a france visa and how much does it cost?

Thanks in advance, apologies if this post is in the wrong place, move it if needed

What is your immigration status? It will affect the answer.

i am a british citizen and my wife is indian, my 2 children are british too. My wife has been here about 7 years and she initially had a 2yr spouse visa and then she got the ILR permanent resident visa.
