Second Extension for the purposes of Job Change

Hi,

I got my HSMP in July 2007 and Teir 1 Extension in July 2009.

My Tier 1 Extension expires in July 2012 when I quailify for ILR.

My problem is that I am not happy where I am working at the moment and would like to apply for Jobs. But I am not getting a favourable response for permanent roles as I have less then a year left on my work visa.

My Question is if I can apply for a Second Extension next month so that I get considered more favourably in Job Search ?

Note that next month when I apply I still will have 10 months left on my Tier 1 Visa. Is there a chance or am I blowing money away ?

You don't have to be working at the time you apply for ILR under Tier 1.

But I would like to be working...not just for ILR but also to support my family.

There is no clear answer anywhere. Some people say they don't extend more than 5 years some say they do.....very confused here....

It's really up to you if you want to extend your leave (and you can do this at any time). However, it seems unnecessary if you already have leave that carries you to the five year threshold and will be scoring points to satisfy the ILR requirements.

Thats the issue, even though it may seem unnecessary, for a person in a situation of Job change chasing permanent roles, it holds relevence....I couldnt find any precendene of this in my google searches either..

The question really is if they are willing to entertain a second extention 10 month before Tier 1 expiry date...
